Looking through the spaces between my fingers

Looking into windows…portals of our lives…

Where will each step lead us?

How many past demons cling to our ankles?

Looking through the spaces between my fingers

As they are about to be clasped in prayer

Fervent whispers…desperate utterances

Forlorn sighs punctuate each sentence.

Looking through the spaces between my fingers

Widening cracks in our union

Crumbling and falling through…

Peeking through the spaces between my fingers

At the face these fingers twitch to touch

Sighing at these hollows spaces between my fingers

Where yours completed…made me whole

Aching as these spaces remember…

Warmth…

Bond…

Promises…

Looking through the spaces between my fingers…

Into nothing that stretches on

Into memories

Into dreams…
