So Paul and I have been talking constantly; he’s given up the sex thing, well almost. He wants to talk about it occasionally, but what guy doesn’t? It’s so great talking with him. We talk about absolutely everything, most night I don’t get any sleep, because we’re texting so late. I catch up while he’s at football practice everyday. He has his first game Thursday and is very excited. I might get to go visit this coming week; it depends on my dad’s friend, Brian.

When my parents met, they both worked for the carnival, my dad in rides, and my mom in games. My mom was married to someone else and going through a divorce. When they met, they didn’t exactly get off on the right foot, but they developed a relationship anyways.

I was born before my mom’s divorce was final, so my father’s name is not on my birth certificate. Eventually the divorce finalized. Around the time I was six months old, my parents decided the carnival was no place to raise children so they left. They soon found out they were pregnant with my brother, Drew. Before he was born, my parents married in the courthouse.

Their marriage lasted about halfway though my year of Kindergarten, then they divorced. My dad moved out. My mom was working with computers and taking care of us alone. My dad lived in different places working construction, moving in with girlfriend after girlfriend.

Around the time I was eight, I started taking care of things at my mom’s house. I was cooking our meals and cleaning the house, even making sure my mom and Drew got up in the morning. As time progressed, I received more responsibilities. She married again when I was in seventh grade. I love my step dad, Cam, but he doesn’t work. Now we spend a lot more money and didn’t get any extra income. He didn’t help out at home, so now I continue taking care of Drew, and clean the house by myself, take care of out three guinea pigs, do all the cooking, all the laundry, bring money into our house, and attend high school.

After the divorce, we saw my dad every other weekend and split holidays. When I went into fifth grade, he could no longer find work where we live, so he moved to Alabama, where his dad lives. He helped work the auction business my grandfather owned. Eventually my dad owned the auction by himself. Then he met his new wife, Lauren. They married. She lived in Alabama with him, but worked every day in Georgia. After about a year, when I was in ninth grade, she convinced him to close the auction and move to Georgia.

Once there, he opened another auction and began looking for a house. Before he could find one, she cheated on him and then left him, taking half his possessions and money, same as my mom, and the wife in-between. After that, my dad took his camper he now lived in and rejoined the carnival. He’s a supervisor there and has very flexible hours.

When we visit, we have dinner together almost every night, and we all share in cleaning the camper, I even have the opportunity to work in concessions if I choose. We spend the day out riding rides, or in the camper watching movies, and at night we sit with my dad, eat dinner, play board games, or watch movies together.

However, when my mom found out he rejoined the carnival, she went to court and had the judge rule we could only have supervised visitation with my dad. His friend Brian is one of the approved supervisors. He owns his own DJ Company, mostly for weddings, but he does other events as well. As a result he’s busy a lot of the time. However, he might be free next week and could be going to see my dad. If that’s the case I will be going with him to visit. I haven’t seen my dad all summer and would like to see him before school starts.

There’s always the possibility, though, that he may not be able to go. If that’s the case, I will be going to visit my dad’s side of the family, including Paul. They live about two hours north of me. I’d rather see my dad, but I haven’t seen his side of the family for two years and it would be nice to visit all of them.

I told Paul I might be able to come and he’s excited to see me. I can’t wait to see him either. I don’t know what’s going to happen, if anything, guess I’ll have to wait and see. We wont be able to talk again for a few days. He’s visiting his girlfriend. I know, I know. We’re talking like this and he has a girlfriend. He wanted to break up with her as soon as we discovered we both have feelings for each other, but I told him not to. He loves her too, and no matter how strong our feelings, there’s not ever going to be a real future for us.

Even knowing that, I can’t let him go. I miss him. I love him. I hope I get to see him this week, go watch his first football game…
