A lonely child, I am on my own

Neither brothers nor sisters

I play alone.

One bed in my room

One person in that bed

Two feet and the bottom

And at the top, one head.

One mother and that’s all

Just me and her,

Just mum and I, and no father.

I wonder where he is,

I think at night,

Whilst im wrapped in my blankets

Warm and tight

Does he think of me?

When he’s all alone..

Does he know I exist?

He must have known!
