This is a short story about a young boy and is dream girl.

The Horseman’s Romance

There once was a boy who lived on the grounds of a castle. His job on the property was to attend to the king’s horses and make sure they were well taken care of. Everyday he’d get up and run down to the stable to help the kind and his royal family onto their horses.

As he was putting the bitts in the horses’ mouth he, he dropped one of the parts. When we went to go pick up the piece he ran into the king’s daughter.  Stammering for words he greeted her politely and quickly went back to his work.

As she rode off into the horizon, with her dirty-blonde hair waving in the wind he couldn’t help but wonder if maybe she would fall for him. He would make small efforts to get her to notice him, like having her horse ready ahead of the others. He would leave her gifts next to her window.

This little game of love went on for a few months, until he finally got the courage to ask her to a dance. She kindly accepted his invitation and went home to plan for the magical time they both would have.

Several months later when the dance was to occur, the boy pulled up to the king’s  palace in a very elegant carriage. The princess was waiting for him by the steps in a beautiful red dress with white trim. The young man half stumbled out of the carriage taken in by her radiance and beauty. As he held out his hand to help the princess into the carriage he said “Thank you my lady for giving me the honor of dancing with you.” She just looked at him, smiled and nodded and they drove off together into the sunset, the magical night awaits them.

They reach the ballroom, and walk in just as the slow dance was starting. They both are swaying slowly as they look into each other’s eyes and whisper back and forth about how this day came about.  Then after a few minutes of chatter the boy leaned in and kissed the princess for the first time, just as the slow dance was ending. The princess looked into is his eyes and smiled and said “I’m glad you’re mine.”

Thus ends the Horseman’s romance, now go and make something of your dreams and goals. Take the one leap of faith and trust in yourself to see it through.
