a metaphor comparing a walk on the beach to life

I come to the beach
Ready to make my mark
Walk along the shore
Footprints deep and sharp
Making my impression
Far as the eye can see
It takes me long to realize
Millions of footprints surround me
Im not the only one
Who wants to make their mark
I look around and realize
My footprints are no longer stark
Half covered, and lost
In the sea of feet
Trodden and forsaken
Buried amidst deceit
Near the end of the beach
I look back to my trail
Waves had come and gone
Erasing evidence of my tale
I walk the finally steps
Tears falling into the sea
I have failed to make my mark
No one will remember me
