A poem in response to the many mass shootings and acts of terror America has seen in recent years.

I See Violence

I see violence everywhere.

I see it frightening our children,
Leaving their parents in tears
And a community devastated.

I see violence everywhere.

I see it disrupting our times of fun,
Leaving moviegoers injured
And a new element of fear of entertainment.

I see violence everywhere.

I see it burning down our cities,
Leaving its citizens in disarray
And their caretakers in alarm.

I see violence everywhere.

I see it alarming our politicians,
Leaving the people to watch
And see how helpless they are to prevent it.

I see violence everywhere.

I see it devastating our families,
Leaving our parents in trauma
And our children being overprotected.

I see violence everywhere.

I see it changing our nation,
Leaving it to question how this could all happen
And how to move forward into the future.

I see violence everywhere.
