Am I Just a Dog?

In a box with others; the runt of the litter,
and I was chosen.  You took me home,
and spoke my name.
That is when I became yours.
You gave me hope and made sure that, I believed

How many years have passed?
It took long for you to forget me,
but nevertheless,   You did

Am I just a dog, out in the rain
Filled with wet fur and inane.
Let me in, and dry my body,
dry my eyes, dry, Everything

You no longer tell me about your long days.
You rarely speak to me at all now.
It is a process of ignoring and forgetting.
I wonder if you would talk to me if, You could

But nothing has changed.  My body slows down,
converts to a pile of hair and bones.
You don’t seem to know what it is like, To hurt

Are you happy now?  Today I leave you,
and now you greave?
You cannot expect me to accept your sorrow,
because you never truly accepted, Me.
