I love myself.

Scratch the paraphrases and cliches.

I love myself with an unmatched ferocity.

Clawing my way out of a womb,

Determined to be a revolutionary presence.

My destiny was pre-determined by my goddamn self.

I am the creator and destroyer.

Purgatory in a passionate affair with good and evil.

Baby can you taste the salt of my tears,

And the sweat of my burdens,

When you kiss me?

Do you see my life as an infinite vessel,

Of possible stories?

An American ending my people laugh at -

Or a witch burning, with her gaze fixed on you

As she ascends back home.

My flesh is holy, my love abundant.

Do you fall to your knees,

When your eyes land on this temple?

Built from the softest curves,

And faded birthmarks?

Do your lips utter repentance,

To every woman you failed to see -

As you lay in the sanctuary,

Of my thighs and elbows.
