I wrote this when I was in fifth grade. It's not great, but it's always been my favourite of my poems. It's from the point of view of someone on their death bed, in the hospital, waiting for the one they love to arrive, and say their goodbyes. In the last four years, it's actually been shortened a whole lot. For the better, I hope.

I lie in the light,

Wonder what will happen tonight.

Well, the disease I will fight.

If I die tonight, please do not cry.

Because everyone dies from something.

You hear the buzz,

Alive I was.

Now I've died, but please don't cry.

Because everyone dies from something.

To pass, I had waited.

You came, so I faded.

The cancer took my life,

Raised the knife.

I have died,

But please don't cry.

Because everyone dies from something.
