Not shattered
Fissures
Love has been leaking
For years.
Heaviness
A squeezing
Pushing all emotion
Out.
Not felt
Except in quiet moments
Something is not right
Here.
Emptiness
Glass vessel
That can never break
Only beat.
Not realized
Until too late
It has been drained
Clean.

This I can relate to. Feel like I need to take a deep breath after reading that. It makes me feel like no matter how you try sometimes you just can't get enough of a beating. Especially when you love someone, it's almost as if the pain is an addiction. Hmm... maybe I'm gettng to deep? Anywho, I think you have a real touch for poetry Emily, and love the direct style with this one! :) ~ Nix

Well, I would say 'cant get enough' because for me, when it was 'clean', then it was enough. There was nothing left to give. I think this poem came to me because of a conversation with a friend. He said that he still loved his ex-fiance but couldn't be with her. My immediate response was that I didn't. All of my love had been dripped out of me.
Thank you Nixie. That is a real compliment coming from you. Now that everyone has said it was so simple and direct, I'm going to have to write a very complicated and vague poem; just to see if I can!
clear, wonderful, a lovely write

Haha, I can always count on you to inject a positive note to everything! It was done in the past tense, wasn't it? I shall have to think upon that ;) Thanks Pratibha!
