Hurt, aching, heartache, seperation, love.

This is the short story of two people who love each other but experience pain from the other person.

Aftermath of an argument written from his perspective and hers.

This was not where he wanted to be. Come to think of it who WOULD want to be where he was?

He felt hollow.

Actually, he didn't. He burned with aching and desire to be with her. Feeling hollow would have been a welcome change.

He longed for her, he longed to be with her.

As far as he was concerned, they should never have to be apart. When he wasn't with her he felt as though half of his heart was missing. He had been hurt before and so had she, they vowed never to hurt each other but they had.

He wasn't angry at her. Her last comment had tore through his old wounds causing fresh pain. The fact that the words came out of her beautiful mouth was what hurt the most. Yet he couldn't blame her, he watched the agony flash across her face as he hurled every single vile word at her.

He had wanted to cause her pain. That's the way he was, he wanted to be the one spewing hateful words. For a moment he enjoyed seeing the pain on her face. His enjoyment however was short lived. He knew how much she had been hurt before and he knew how strong she was but it still hit him like a slap across the face when she hurled her one and only stinging insult back at him.

He stood and stared at her, shocked and clutching the door frame.

At that moment he realised that she was the one that had patched and built him up from the bottom and with one sentence she could bring him down to his knees with everything else crashing round about him.

He let her leave. He should have stopped her but he didn't.

He was unsure about their future, if they had one.

He'd broken her down so much that she had felt the need to defend herself so viciously. Who was he to do that to her?

She had given him everything and she had given all of herself to him and at times he acted as though it still wasn't enough.

She knew what she had done as soon as the door closed.

She'd broken him. Like the others before her. She had said those vile words and she wanted to cause him pain. That was the part that disgusted her the most.

She loved him more than she had loved anyone else. She felt torn when she wasn't with him.

The love never faded, never changed, not once. That was how she knew he was the one, the love of her life, her soulmate, her other half and whatever else you wanted to call it.

He was all she wanted, all she needed and yet she never felt the same. She had given all of herself to him. Everything. No matter how much she had struggled.

She had been hurt before, who hasn't, but she knew it was different because he was different, everything was different this time round and it was like nothing she had ever experienced or felt before. She loved him with her entire being, as cliche as that sounds.

She did, she still does.

She doesn't want anything more than to be with him, to be enough for him, but she feels she isn't.

There's no guarantee he'd change, but she didn't care. She needed him. Her whole world revolves around him and it didn't phase her. She never thought growing up that she'd be this sort of person.

Yet here she is.

The physical pain is baffling. She realised now that some things would need to change, that they both needed to work hard at their relationship. But the love is there, she saw it on his face, she feels it within herself.

She's unsure if she'll be enough or if they will even last. But she knows that she wants to try. She wants to give everything she has and she wants to have a long lasting love, one that will see her for the rest of her life.

Her life with him.
