Church a booming business

\"\"
I cannot begin to count the millions of churches around the globe today, but my guess is they are well over 5 million churches. And in Nigeria my guess is approximately  50% of the total world's church is here, which would mean there are about 2.5 million churches in Nigeria.  And today we also have mobile churches for those who cannot make it to church, the church will meet you at your door step. I guess it does come at a fee though, make sure you have your offering on you because \" God does love a cheerful giver\". A quote from the bible which has been misquoted and misinterpreted by many church owners.

Church business in Nigeria is one of the fastest growing industries, they have become a Public Limited Liability company since the early 80's and today churches have gone regional and now international. Some churches even have more regional and world wide branches than some corporations do and they are all striving hard to meet the needs of their clients, potential clients at any cost. The investment in church business is so high but lucrative that the church owners are willing to do anything to meet their customers I meant flocks needs. Church owners are so keen to meet their targets that they can afford to have 2-3 church branches in an estate, street or road, put up a church in a hotel, motel and even in a whore house. All in the name of reaching out to the people. What I do not know is, is all this for the good of the Kingdom of God or for good of their own personal interest.

The rate at which churches are springing up in Nigeria most be daunting to some other countries with lesser churches and I guess it explains why churches from Nigeria are moving East,West, south and North crossing across borders to fill up the vacuum. Like Kenya for example, there are couple of Nigerian churches and with time they will grow more in number than the local churches both in size, number and wealth acquisition. We also have Nigerian banks and private businesses in Kenya but these churches have more foresight because they were before the \"profit oriented businesses\" saw the light.

I baffle at why is it only in Christianity that we have different types; such as pentecostal, protestant, Catholics amongst others. Why don't we see that in other religions? Why is it that only Christianity tries to conform to the world because I have heard reggae, hip hop and Rn B versions of Christian music.Even our dress code is nothing short of those of pop-stars,rock-stars,models and the likes. We dress in some ways that it becomes difficult to tell if we are coming from the club or going to the church.

My guess would be, since we have millions of Nigerian churches and hundreds outside Nigeria could suggest that we are a very Godly people and must be a Nation of saints. Which would explain why we are now reaching out beyond borders. But shock on me because that is not the case, the amount of atrocities that go on within the country would be enough to believe that God does not dwell here. Yet we go to church, pray, donate huge some of money to the church and yet the works of our hands are not clean.

One cannot even begin to explain the rumors behind how some pastors get their wealth from and where some get their so-called anointing to perform miracles from. Some pastors in Nigeria have been linked to occultism, sorcery and witchcraft. Some people in the congregation ( church members) who are the biggest donors to the church are thieves, drug lords, con-artist and all sorts yet the Pastors receives gifts from them and pray for safe transaction of their businesses. I guess it explains why the biggest selling sermon in churches is prosperity, because that is the primary focus of many churches today. What happened to salvation!!!?

The moral here is we should be very vigilant of the people around us, people we run to for prayers and counseling because the bible says \".... in the last days, there will be false prophets....\"Be wise, and do not be conned of your hard-earned money all in the name of God because God does not need your money although it is a good thing to give to people who are in deer need. The bible says\" give and it shall be given unto you....\" \"it is more blessed to give than to receive\", God loves a cheerful giver. My closing remark would be give wisely to those who sincerely deserve it.
