A sonnet I had to write for my Creative Writing class. Pretty depressing...so, if you don't like reading depressing things I suggest you don't read this.
Some of the stressed and unstressed are messed up, but oh well.

In the dark of the night, I lose my sight,
My hands touch a grimy wall to guide me,
I stumble throught the room ready to fight,
Screaming my loudest I yell, Let me be.

The door I try to unlock, it's no use,
Why did you take me away from my home?
You don't love me, all I feel is abuse,
I hope one day you drop that stupid phone.

Every day I scream, can't someone hear?
I'm not sure how much longer I can stand.
It's not uncommon for my eyes to tear,
I just wish someone could lend me a hand.

Some day I'll get far away from this place,
And maybe a lawyer will take the case.

Teacher Notes:

-Perfect rhyme scheme -  meter count is great, but emphasis a bit off. Very disturbing image. Powerful!

-Accents a bit awkward

-Perfect meter (Second part, last two lines)
