CHRISTMAS PARTY

She was getting herself into quite a tizzy,

Wondering what to prepare

For the social occasion - finger food,

Something everyone could share,

So she pondered awhile, what could she make?

Meringues, biscuits and cheese?

Samosas, sandwiches, cherry tomatoes?

Or profiteroles would please.

Maybe sausages on sticks, or grapes,

And a quiche would go down well,

Christmas cake or even mince pies

Would be ideal for Noël.

So into the kitchen she went right away,

Ideas running through her head,

She thought she’d try a few different things

Before she went to bed.

Pleased with her work, she slept like a log

And woke up fresh as a daisy,

She had some more party food to make,

This was no time to be lazy.

For hours she laboured so she could impress

With her culinary delight,

It had to be perfect to take with her

To the Christmas party that night.

She was looking forward to going

As it always went with a swing,

With make-up immaculate, party dress on,

She put on her very best bling.

Then she got in the car and drove through the town

To collect her best friend, Mabel,

At the venue, she opened the boot for the food .............

OH NO!!!!!!!

She’d left it at home on the table!
