“How dare you Izel! How dare you just waltz in and pull me away like that!” I shouted at the 6’ 4” man with wavy black hair and deep cobalt blue eyes who stood across from me all nonchalantly. “Who do you think you are? You have no right to take me away like that. Are you so insecure about our relationship that you have to have me locked away at home to feel safe?”

“Of course I’m insecure you always have some guy who’s in love with you. If it’s not Devon its Anton or some other guy you just met.” Izel stated with a hint of annoyance.  I had to fight the urge to throw something at him. “So I see, since you can’t even realize I’m in love with you!” Izel looked taken back when I said that. “You’re in love with me?” he asks shocked and I think kind of hopeful. “Ugh of course I’m in love with you! I’ve been in love with you since we met!” I yell. “But of course you’re too dense to see how I feel about you! All you ever seem to worry about is what guy is into me!”

Izel stands there stunned by my words for a moment. “That’s impossible. You spend so much time with Anton. You two look more like a couple than we do! You can’t possibly be in love with me.” Izel says ending in a whisper, the pain and sorrow from saying this out loud; of making it become real was evident in his voice. My heart melted and I yearned to pull him to me and  make sure that nothing, especially not me, could ever hurt him like that again. My arm rose to touch his cheek but I stopped when I heard him growl “Speak of the devil.” Izel walked away before I could ask what he meant. I started to walk after Izel when suddenly I was pulled back into a bear hug. “Where you goin swet thang?” a deep and partially slurred voice whispered in my ear. It took me a moment to place a name to the voice but finally I recognized it, it was Anton’s voice.

I quickly slipped out of his arms. “Oh -ome ‘n babe don be like tat.” Anton slurred as he tried to hug me again. “Go away Anton, you’re drunk.” I say as I fought off his advances. Anton keeps trying but ends up tripping and falling as I flee from him. I leave Anton on the floor and run through the immensely decorated halls of the Numarian palace. I search each corridor in vain for Izel. I end my search at the 20 foot tall oak double doors where I entered at the beginning of the ball. I fall to my knees with tears in my eyes. “He’s gone and he still thinks that I love Anton.” I was on my knees silently grieving for what felt like an eternity before someone helps me up. I was still teary eyed so I didn’t see who it was at first. Though I could not see my body recognized the person instantly. The hand that held mine left my hand feeling like it had been electrocuted, as did my shoulder where the other hand held me up. Only one man had ever been able to make me react like that. “Izel?” I asked in a tentative whisper.

Instead of an answer I got a kiss that left my lips tingling and sent a jolt of electricity surging throughout my body. “Who else would it be?” he whispered just millimeters away from my lips. I felt a smile sneak its way onto my face as he put my hand on his shoulder and he lifted my other hand. “May I have this dance my lady?” he asked out loud, when I knew he was secretly asking if I would stay with him forever. I was so over joyed that I could not do anything by smile and nod. In that moment it did not matter that there was no music and we were dancing in the entrance hall, because I had Izel next to me. In the middle of the dance he leaned in and kissed me again and as he pulled away he said “I love you too.” I laughed at his timing and we danced the rest of the night in the entrance hall without music playing out loud, but in our heads we heard the best waltz known to man play.
