The room was getting quieter as the girls started to leave the room. The room filled bright with mirrors on every wall. Adie looked into the mirror to find something new and exciting with herself, but all she saw was the same old Adie. Long, beautiful, blond hair, a smile nobody could resist, the perfect body shape, and outstanding green eyes. Adie wasn’t anything but gorgeous, but to herself she is someone who has nothing but wants more to live up to.
Adie’s mother picks her up at the corner after her dance lesson. They don’t talk much, so the ride home was silent. When they got home the first thing Adie did was run to her room and lie on her bed. She started thinking about her past and how everyone would make fun of her. As she got older and more developed she remembered how every boy wanted to be with her. She never thought she was good enough for them or anything else in her life for that matter, including the one thing she truly loves to do.
The next day she goes to her dance lesson. She knows the dance by heart, every step, move, and facial expression. For some reason when she gets to class she just can’t do it the same way as she can in her room.
After class her teacher confronts her.
“Adie” she says.
“Yes” Adie answers.
“Adie, you have great potential and a lot of talent. I’ve seen the kind of work you put into dancing; you just never seem to put the effort in at the studio. Do you know why?” her teacher asks.
“No” sighed Adie
“Do you practice at home?” asks her teacher
“Yes, I do! I know every move. I love to dance.” Adie exclaims
Her teacher then tells Adie to keep practicing and to come to class the next day and show it full out. She also tells her that there is nothing to be afraid of.
The next day Adie comes to class a little nervous. Her teacher starts the music and Adie starts out like she usually does. She started to progress and by the end of the dance she was doing better than she ever had before. It was like nobody was there watching her.
Adie’s teacher went up to her after class. She told Adie that she looked amazing and that she should always dance like that and she should look that good while she is practicing and performing.
When Adie’s teacher told her this she was amazed. She had no idea that she was that good. She decided to never let fear hold her back from anything she does again.
Adie decided she wanted to do a solo for their summer recital. She picked out her own music and choreographed the whole thing. It took a lot of time and effort to do it but she enjoyed doing it and she gained a lot of confidence from it.
Adie preformed the dance at the summer recital. She did a fantastic job and many people came and complimented her afterwards. Adie was very pleased with her and felt very accomplished with what she did.
Adie decided to do this dance for her school’s talent show. At the show there were many college scouts looking for talent. Adie did her dance and did an awesome job. After she was finished people again came and complimented her on what a great job she did and also told her they didn’t know she was into dancing and thought it was a cool hobby.
At the end of the day a college scout went up to her and started talking to her about schools. They then offered her a scholarship to a wonderful college that has a fantastic dancing program that could use some of her talent.
When the next school year rolled around Adie attended a great school with a dancing program on a full-ride scholarship.
