Tried to picturise feelings of a girl who becames insecure after knowing world around her........

I have seen a baby girl;

covered with little black cloth,

lying near a dirty drain,

crying, crying and crying.

Beautiful creature with tearful eyes,

throwing her legs and hands,

all over the sides,

and crying, crying, crying.

Soon two old man goes,

near her, to check her out,

and passed near me by saying,

that was her last crying.

I thanked the God !

who blessed her by death,

and freed her from,

crying all though life.

Now none can tease her by

saying her, poor girl !

none of world's lived God can

beat, burn, rape or murdered her.

Lucky girl, meet with her destiny,

and freed from all pain !

soon, thousands of cries come to me,

God knows, what will be their end.

It's a nicely written tragic tale of a poor girl.. In today's society where women are harassed everywhere, this poem is an eye opener!!! Very well done! Sometimes we see someone suffering so much that we start wishing the person was dead, which is not right... However your poem is not about wrong or right, it just portrays the mad world we live in... How people take pleasure in someone else's pain and take advantage of their vulnerability!

3rd line: lieing should be 'lying.'
crying all through life - it was typed as although.

Such a wonderful and heart-wrenching theme that you've brought to light! I'm so moved and I'm feeling sick of the bad world.
Keep inspiring.
Take care :)

it is too a very heart wrenching poem. more thoughts can be incorporated in the 5th line instead of ' tearful eyes....'' eye with a message to save our soul(SOS). the ending would have matched that none saved but God listened her prayer & ultimately gifted her with Death and she be freed from all the pangs of sufferings...

You always show social concerns in your writing. This poem is the greatest example of your social awareness. I have written quite a lot about the poor condition of girls in India before and after their birth. What is the reason why a country who used to called their women, MATRI DEVOBHAVA(Mother Goddess) has become so cruel towards them ? The reasons are hidden somewhere in our past and as well as in our scriptures. Don't want to go into the details, 'cause everyone know how pathetic has become conditions of our unborn and born daughters. But to sum up everything I reach to a conclusion that dowry is the monster which is devouring our born and unborn daughters. People consider their daughters as burden 'cause a lot of money is required to get them married. What should be the solution ?

Well we all know that the society we live in is rotten to the core. Several sages and social reformers tried their best to eradicate the evil of dowry but got failed finally. And when everything fails we have to rely on an inefficient government. We live in a democracy where people elect a government. We pay taxes in a hope that the govenment will keep us safe from all the evil. But when a government fails to do so and hide behind the inefficient laws, well this is the time to change the inefficient laws and government. What should be the efficient laws which could be able to save our daughters. I'm suggesting a few.

Proposed Laws Against Dowry

Dowry should be banned completely. All the marriages should be registered and both the side should give an affidavit that there will be no exchange of dowry and if they later found indulge in it, they should be punished according to the below given clause.

There should be an imprisonment of ten years for the people who are found demanding or accepting dowry.

Pompous marriages should be banned, if anyone found indulge in these marriages the total expenses on the marriage should be counted and a tax of 200% should be levied on the groom side and should be recovered on the very day. If the groom side fail to pay the tax, the father of the groom and the groom should be imprisoned under the above given clause.

A seperate vigilance team should be formed in every district and subdivision to look after the marriages, these team should be answerable to District Magistrate. And they should form their own network to confirm if the dowry was exchanged or not.

Question may arises, if the authorities who are responsible to stop dowry became corrupt ? This is very much likely but the solution is our blabbermouth media which never leave a chance to expose corrupt officials and wrong doers.

Proposed Law Against Killing Girl Child Before Or After Birth.

There should be an imprisonment of fifteen years for the parents who found indulge in this malpractice. And the doctors who are found indulge in illegal girl child abortions should be sued as killers and given life imprisonment.

Proposed Laws Against Rapists

There should be one and only law against a rapist, DEATH SENTENCE. An alleged rapist should be arrested immediately and put behind bars without bail untill the case decided finally. All the trial, appeal, revision stages of a case should be heard and decided by all women courts(Megistrates and counsels, all should be women) within a span of one year. And if the the alleged rapist found guilty he should be put to death within 1 1/2 years.

If someone found allegedly guilty of harassing a girl should be put behind bars without bail untill the case decided and if found guilty finally should be given a sentence of five years.

Now question arises who will get those laws passed in the parliament. Well this is the toughest part, but if all the women voters(I believe there are 50% women voters are educated girls) get united and declare that they will only vote to the candidates and party who will get all the above mentioned laws passed. I think there is no single party which can afford to lose the women voters to another party.

Another question how can women get united ? Well we have media and social sites which can boost this movement. Who will lead this movement ? There are a will power in Indian girls they will them self lead this movement. But I think this is the high time to ponder over this problem and to take effective action.

People may question, shall these law work ? Well as an administrator I assure they will certainly work. I work with the people of this rotten society and I know how to mend them.

People may find these laws merciless. But did the rapists and girl child killers show any mercy towards the innocent girls ? So we deprive them from any mercy.

I think I bored you to the core but please try to understand that this is really the high time to do anything to save our daughters from the vultures of this rotten society. Someone will have to act and lead this movement, who know this little step may become a biggest movement.

I am really amazed to see such a detailed review. This poem is close to my heart as I wrote it at the age of 17, when I was very much disturbed by reading newspapers which was full of crime against women. I never ever wrote any write up with planning, it is just a out burst of my emotions and feelings. I agree with each and every point suggested by you for improvement of woman condition's in India. If each woman would be educated then also we can see change in picture. I request you to publish these views in newspaper to reach to mass, we can spread awareness though our PEN too. I am really very much impressed by your thoughts, and feeling glad that my little poem is so much thought provoking. Thanks a lot on being source of inspiration......... :)

meenakshi sharma

Just don't know if they are for cry , then why god give them birth .... if he knew that after some time he has to take that one again to death .. just really don't know ..

Why people live their life with a loads of irritation and why live their life with insults and why they has a tag of poooor.. as in case they are the richest person because in cases whenever they are blamed for nothing , they just quite and just don't say anything ... they have a big heart or may be they are unable to do anything ... but why they keep quite.. Why ? Why ...

To when they will take this , there's a limitation of anything to feeel. and to have .. because they also have a self respect
And why people give birth to the child if they always put them in dustbins or here or there .. how should they be so cruel .. Don't know ....

And why we are helpless , if we can do something ./....

still these questions are pending for all of us . because we all don't have their answer and we doesn't have done wnything for them ...

-----------------------------------we're still quite about it .

Dear Meenakshi, I am feeling as if my poem filled your mind with lots of questions and it was same as I felt when I was teenager and wrote this poem. All these questions are still disturbing and unanswerable for me, only thing I can do is to spread awareness though my work, by showing mirror to our dual faced society. God made this beautiful world to live but it is human who converts it into hell. I suggest you to read one of my short story 'Own house', you would realize the raw reality of women's condition in our Asian countries.
I always feels that awareness and education could help to uplift our circumstances, the dirtiness which is somewhere in our roots and together we can cut that ugly part and provide equality to every individual.
Thank you so much for feeling my work so deeply and raising so much questions as it is a start of awareness, with all our efforts inshaallah we all could witness a fresh tomorrow with equal rights, peace and love. Take care and have a great day :))

The Mother the god's greatest and beautiful gift. A sister god's loveable gift for ever....a daughter god's sweetest gift....and finally wife a life time partner given by god ...... After all if some girl will treated as a poor girl and discovered dead from the drain.....then we are refusing to accept the gift from god.....then we should treated as evil.......nothing shame as this when a girl child is found dead and discovered from drain.......any way Ashi really a message for awareness. Sorrowfully written and presented brilliantly.....liked it.....

From our birth to the moment when are transformed in to Ashes or rotting flesh meet our end.Born in to a world of immense cruelty and selfishness we some how survive all that life throws at us.
Your poem made me realise how tragedy can strike for this poor little mite was never given a fighting chance abandoned by her mother at the gutter for her to cry,die and rot in to nothingness.Well penned.Nobody in life is fortunate for life is not our choice but made by other lusty people who allowed their passions to get the better of them.

Original writing brings such a realization on society's issues.

I found her death to be sad. While you portrayed it as being saved from society's turmoil, interesting piece.

As I stated, I enjoyed the originality of this piece. Well penned and thought provoking.

Vashti Puls

Yes, I would agree. I am glad she was not raped or treated as garbage. She touched me very deeply. I think of her as a baby bird ho finally was allowed to fly free. These things do not only happen in India. They happen in the U.S. also. I grew up treated as second class citizen in family of males. Females were seen as inferior and treated like slaves. This was due to my religion. Thank you for your writing. For giving voice to the female infant who had none! that is a noble and pure thing to do!

You surprised me Vashti by writing ".......These things do not only happen in India. They happen in the U.S. also. I grew up treated as second class citizen in family of males. Females were seen as inferior and treated like slaves. This was due to my religion."
As we all think that women are maltreated in Asian countries only and Europe is the place where they get equal rights.... You really proved me wrong...
I am glad you find my this poem relatable and your appreciation is really encouraging, thanks a million dear!!!
