The Theatre

For your light,

I would give my face.

I would give my eyes

For a moment

In which all eyes belong to me

For only an hour.

For your attention,

May my mind be stripped

Of all thoughts

That do not exist for love of you,

And may my brain, for memory,

Cease.

May my body be raped

By ten thousand men

With ten thousand perveted thoughs

So that it may be called beautiful

By your judgement

So that it may be praised by those that love you.

May my blood and lungs

embellish your floorboards

And for every breath I share

And vessel I sever,

Let the people watch

With smiles and admiration.

And in exchange, I wish that

(For every day that passes)

You may creep into the heart

Of another other,

Until her part might one day sit with mine

On a wall that only few read

And only she will remember.
