Poem by: Ashley I Read

Summary

I wrote this when I was younger, it won me a competition so I thought I'd put it up.

Death is around you, watching your every move

He lurks in the darkness, waiting to pounce

His hunger for souls, your death will sooth

He has no sympathy, not even an ounce.

He can sense your fear from miles away

A sneaky smile will creep upon his face

As soon as he knows it’s your last day

And swiftly he arrives, an escort to you resting place.

You may resist, even cry or scream

But it’s really happening, he is certainly there

It may seem unreal, just like a dream

Well in fact it is, a real nightmare.
