Lies, secrets, and jealousy

Love’s never what it’s cracked up to be

Making him jealous with that other boy

Playing with his heart like it’s some kind of toy

He’ll get revenge with his seductive charm

When you see that new girl wrapped under his arm

While you’re paying him back you’ll feel good inside

But there is a secret that you know you hide

You hate yourself for hurting him

For making his life dark and grim

You love him, and he loves you

But you miss each other, so this is what you must do

Until they come back, this game you will play

Hiding your love for another day

‘She’s just a girl’ he wants you to know

Because he could never just let you go

“He’s just a guy’ you have no feelings for

But he doesn’t know, and your heart is tore

You’re killing each other with the way you think

It’s causing both of your hearts to sink

And on that day, when they finally drown

All the memories that brought smiles will bring upsetting frowns

You had him once, but carelessly let go

And now your brain has gone completely loco

You want him back, but he could never tell

Because that emotion, you try not to show

You’re both hiding in the dark, love makes you afraid

Afraid you have so much, you’ll scare them away

Afraid of the lies, secrets and jealousy

Because love’s never what it’s cracked up to be
