I enjoy medieval-themed fiction and I quite frequently like to use such metaphors in my poems.
I hope you enjoy this. And it was so fun searching for helmet pictures! :)

Applaud the man behind the helmet
Behind the sparkly cuirass
Applaud his cruelty and illness
Applaud the wrong moralities

Applaud the man who rides the black steed
Scream when he picks up sword
And clap when he'd performed the right deed
Laugh at the dead man's corpse

Fire was used to forge this armor
Fire ended its virginity
And blood that hides behind the shimmer
One day a scrape will show the truth
But you'll be blinded by the helmet
That hides the eyes of the sinner

But when the chainmail is too old and worn
You'll be forgotten like others before you
And your grave will rot and melt to the ground
In the same place of your glorious battles
And your blade, useless, will be forged anew
Your soul will perish in this cracked helmet

Hope you awake and feel the shame...
