Beneath the mighty oak

There slept an English bloke

In his sleeping bag he lay

Waiting for the break of day

He was very snug and warm

He used no tent, no chance of storm

It was a cold winter night

Black as coal, there was no light

Heidi the shepherd girl was in his dream

Tending the sheep down by the stream

He dreamed she ran to his arms

Teasing him with all her charms

He woke once in the night

It was but a dream, on second sight.

He fell back asleep distraught

There were not even sheep he thought

In his sleep he heard a baa

He thought to himself, nah!

Then the light from rising sun

His sleepy eyes did stun

He looked out from under that tree

To squint and blink and try to see

He rubbed from his eyes the sleep

He saw the meadow full of sheep

In his heart the cold was gone

For he knew it would not be long

For with the sunshine on his face

Soon he and Heidi would embrace
