Curse at the Wind
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Beaten as a child with no sign of hope
he couldn't take it anymore
and looked for the noose in the rope
his father caught him and tortured him even more
but he slipped out of the grip on his throat
got past him and ran out the door
17 years later he had a child that he adored
he felt blessed but wondered
if the bills were something that he could afford
his wife was a maid and all day did nothing but endless chores
the next day she came home and felt badly sick
she laid down, tried to get up but threw up on the floor
she reached out for help
but she was cruely ignored
by the man she married who had walked out the door
he went in the parking lot
said he was getting medicine but fell asleep in his Ford
He wanted to hide from his sins
because his heart was torn
he wanted to talk to someone
but didn't know where to begin
Since he ran away from home when was only 10
you'd think he'd know how to treat someone right
but instead all night he went on a binge
he had a few too many beers and cursed at the wind
He got back in his truck and drove off a bridge
he struggled to get out but the water was seeping in
All of the sudden he woke up in bed screaming
had an epiphany and then knew what to believe in
When his wife got home sick he gave her some medicine
He got a better job and made better income
moved into a new house big enough for his son to run
He saw better days
and easier nights
No more struggling
and no more fights
He said no to the bottle of champaign
he felt cleansed and his mind was sane
because he knew he would never make the same mistake his father made
A/N: Thanks for reading, more poems coming soon:)
