Summary

A woman born of royal blood; who is not free to love beneath her class.

This poem was suggested by a reader comment; that she should make a relpy to the servant's poem.

My heart gains a beat; each time I see your face;

but I cannot look upon it longingly; to my despair.

Of nobility’s blood; to dream this dream is disgrace.

Iwish it be not so; having to deny my love unfair.

~~~~~
Kind eyes; I can only pretend not to see them staring;
sweetest smile I dare not return; for fear I be caught.
If only I could in your arms be; without other’s caring;
Denounce my royal bloodline; and declare it naught.
~~~~~

I have loved you since I was but a child; and you a boy;

your brown hair and dimpled chin; and enchanting eyes.

To steal but a moment with you; would bring great joy;

But dictations of my status; would bring but thy demise.

~~~~~
I will no doubt be soon to wed; to one I do not know;
sacrifice my heart’s desire; for kingdom’s better good.
Though I must deny my pain; I will love you even so;
 if I were not of noble blood; accept thy love I would.
