Cascading beam of light from a sphere that owns it not

but merely reflects it from a glowing sun; it is the moon.

The gray-blue orb fixed against a darkened sky, marred

with craters seen from afar;  it is mysterious, the moon.

 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Lovers stand beneath; arms entwined to bask in its glow.
Whether blue, yellow or harvest gold, it mesmerizes eye;
calms the fear of night; by casting light upon unknowns.
Barren yet alluring; far away yet near, illusionist supreme.
 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Commanding tides of earthly seas and inspiring love among

young hearts and old alike; this mystical sphere called moon.

Man has walked upon its dark soil; but they will never know

what empowers the moon, without light, to  illuminate our souls.
