As one ages, I think we tend to think of death more often.
I look back on my life and realize that I have been given second chances at living several time and am grateful for the added years I've received.

Along the path of life, I met Death one day.

He did not stop; just continued on his way.

I know not why he chose to pass me by;

but grateful it wasn’t time for me to die.

~~~~~
When seen again;I know will be for me;
to linger by my bed; till my soul's set free.
I won’t fear him then; after given one reprise;
granted many years; since looked into his eyes.
~~~~~

I’ve lived, loved; laughed and cried some tears;

when all is said and done; I’ve given up my fears.

Rich life of loved ones and many friendships made;

I shall go peacefully into his realm of lasting shade.

~~~~~
With age comes wisdom; to know what is to cherish;
it’s the passing of life’s candle; allowing us to perish.
Mourn me not, nor shed unneeded tears for me;
Death passed me before; but now my soul is free.
