Summary

Dedicated to parents of Down's Syndrom children.

I worked for many years with individuals with Down's Syndrom and they are the most amazing, insightful people I have ever known.

She laid her head back; her face showed both exhaustion and joy.

Her baby cried out its first breath; after entering into the world.

She longed to see her little girl; to hold this little miracle of life.

Why was he looking shocked? A father should have a look of pride.

“What’s wrong? She’s crying; let me see her,” the woman pleaded.

The doctor touched tiny stubby fingers; in her eyes he saw the proof.

“She is a Down’s syndrome baby; I’m sorry,” Is all he had to say.

A nurse laid the baby in the mother’s arms; with tears in her eyes.

She looked down at her daughter’s face and saw what others saw.

For a moment she felt sadness; then a flood of motherly love.

She kissed the little girl and drew her closer, “She’s so beautiful!”

In the years that followed; Sara Grace brought so much joy and love.

A gentle happy child, who found beauty in the smallest of things;

teaching all she met that miracles come in many forms and faces.

Never asking for pity; giving unconditional love to those around her;

sweetly smiling; accepting the imperfections of others born “normal.”

Those her judge her by her looks; those that stare and whisper as

she goes about her life; are the ones who society should pity more.

Sara Grace is perfect in her heart and soul; the truest miracle of all.
