Solitary Spirit

Poem by: awaneesh1strivingbard

Summary

it hurts when a loved one walks away, and the only thing that overhauls the distress is having them by your side again or accepting they were never ours.

Having ambled on the shore, for a tidy time
we found it apt to cruise,
in the silent uncanny ocean
in the yacht of love we put up.

The odyssey had only the dawn known,
it wouldn’t end unless the yacht drowned,
I had faith it won’t, not in rough days,
we’ll sail through all-weather with vigour;
loving each other, living for each other

Treacherous storms did come in our way
some even shook the deck,
for the trust we had, for the divine affinity
we saved love from capsizing.

Then a day, we happened to be ashore,
in the long run, love saw a halt.
I chose to fix up the yacht,
as love, I saw from the vantage
was hit hard, not broken.

At odds it left me mystified,
to see what you plumped for,
leaving the trails you walked away
I heard you say farewell.

With tear drops, my misty eyes
forbade to believe you abandoned me,
edgy unease blanketed me
we fall apart this I could never foresee.

Finding no reason to let you go
I plead for you to stay,
in course of time, for my gloomy eyes
you ceased to exit, saying no
to the love, the broken yacht
that I see drowning in the dreary sand.

Don’t deny the journey we vowed to keep on
the beautiful days I cherish
the allay we found in each other’s arms
the numbness beheld to let the silence talk

Don’t go our heartfelt dreams will sob
I wish not to see them perish
I need your hug, to know I’m alive
and the touch of your hands, to save me in dismay

I dread to learn, to live without you
I can’t laugh or smile, I’ll fumble to talk
for the real me rests in you
I plead, dearest, don’t take me away from myself

I hail the lord, my love don’t go
for I’ll never fall in love again
come, turn a blind eye to the storms
our course will be better than ever

After all we’ve been through
all I seek is love; as
I don’t want my piteous heart to believe
in love, dolour, is meant to be
