When I reach to hold your face

Everything is sure

Your buried treasure

Is mine to procure

But when I press my lips to yours

You dissapear

And in the real world

I'm paralyzed with fear

Your delicate features

Are submersed in the lake

I know it all too well

And my heart it aches

I reach to comfort you

But I fall

Into the endless mist

Into my lack of gall

And suddenly you're gone

I know your pain

But every time I try to reach out

it is in vein

I love your everything

Though all of it's weak

Damaged and weathered

By the vulture's beak

All I want to do

Is take it away

And fill you up

With my love's endless haze

There's nothing I want more

Than to wrap my arms around you

For you to tell me "I'm yours"

And to kiss me on cue

But I'm hanging

On the edge of the precipice

Too much a coward to let myself fall

Too convicted by your pestilence

And then you vaporize

I let myself fall

But you're not there to catch me

If you were even there at all

Your presence lingers

And I hate myself

For letting you slip

straight

through

my

fingers
