Sometimes, a good thing happens... I wrote this for our anniversary, but it is still true now as ever.

The Wonder of You

[On the occasion of our 50th wedding anniversary]

Until you, I had no life

But once you said you'd be my wife

My existence was now complete

Two hearts, as one, began to beat.

Then came war, mean, and severe

Cutting us off from year to year

Soon, even that ended one day

We moved, yet again, you had no say.

Children we had, numbering two

A girl for me and a girl for you

Each time right after birth

I sped away to prove my worth

My career finally ended after year twenty

Our life fulfilled, in terms of plenty

Now retired, we finally relax

And plan ways to dodge inheritance tax

Through thick and thin we’ve stayed together

Through hot and cold and stormy weather

Through it all, one fact is clear

I love you very much, my dear

This was so pristine and beautiful, Sir. I really adore couples who have been together through thick and thin with the bond instead of loosening, gets stronger with the passage of time. I was in awe when I read this poem. Fifty years is such a long time and I'm so glad that you and your wife have been together through all these years. I also read your reply to Adil's comment and your story of how you met ma'am is touching. I really hope that someday I get a partner so sweet and I'm sure you and ma'am will definitely stay together for long. This poem was very romantic and sweet. I loved this.
