Songbird on My Shoulder

Everything still
in pools of water
to find a future.
To nothing, plays a picture
and everything is nothing to me
and that melody.

Today I picked up that voice
as the afternoon wind carried it to me.
If this is the heart of love, why does this stillness continue?
Resting playing to my lips, you sing to me
but you have forgotten me.

And so if this is the branch that reaches out
then I rooted have forgotten as well.

But theirs this songbird on my shoulder,
feathers of a flower to my eyes,
burst of the sun to my heart,
aroma of a lilac to my senses
that caress your velvet touch to my cheek.

You remember,
I that sails passion deep within roots,
seems to move, each moment cherished
played in high pitch to my ear.

Today is not the sunshine but we will be,
I know that as I touch my lip that touched yours
your voice is still and I am beautiful.
