Today’s prompt is to write about what we think is the cruelest month of the year. Which is August, of course.
As per usual I post first here:

August, no doubt, is the month most cruel,
It’s burning and roasting and so hot it can hurt.
The thought looms over me, fast approaching school,
I sigh and cry and air out my shirt.

Have we ran out of the summer joy and fun?
All my hopes and dreams are scorched.
Each one toasted individually under the sun,
Charred and scalded and thoroughly torched.

I do hope this proves my point so very clear,
The singeing and wilting and shriveling seem to have no stop.
The thought I must bear this pain year after year,
Makes my head want to pop!
