Alternative Fate

Poem by: Balaji Iyer

Summary

When you are losing your grip over yourself… all but the present seem to be a safe haven… a short-term, quick hideaway is what you seek… but you know there is no running away… it gets to you… sooner than you think… it gets you

When you chose to not be yourself… the path unfolds differently… a barren cross road at every step… but you take the faithless plunge… at least it remedies someone else’s predicament… but you race towards the oblivion… towards the end.

When you have done what you never willed for… there is no choice but to dance in pungent ecstasy of the wrecked moments… you dance and dance and dance and willfully hide the intercepting and ever-growing void… you just continue to dance

When you have answered the unwilling call… there nothing much to talk… you stare at the mirror and find a stranger, a stranger unknown but out of you he has grown… but then your last refuge… your mirror backstabs

But then the hide and seek has ended…the world stares at the crownless king… the miracle has faded… the hope deluged by causality… self given to naught… but then it is just a dream… just a nightmare… you try and open your eyes but you never fell asleep!
