I wrote this a couple weeks after me and my ex broke up. It starts out how i felt when we first split and it ends on how i feel now.

I long for us to be together again

But it seems our love is gone with the wind

You grasped my heart tightly, in a beautiful bind

The love that you showed me was one of a kind

With each passing day I get over you more

Because you walked out my life and closed the door

Ill never forget the times that we had

All the ones that were good and bad

And so i must say to you my dear friend

We will never be together again

Well, I rather enjoy this, I'm pretty sure a lot of people feel this way and were not or decided not to describe how they felt. (:
It's good.

Craig Davison

I suppose this is one way of dealing with heartbreak and despair. But here in the Land Down Under we just call them bitches and sluts and find another one to ravish. (Pardon my heavy use of irony, but it is Saturday morning here, and I have just about got over the last woman who dumped me. Now I have to get over my hangover. LOL)
Seriously though, it is a good poem with heartfelt emotions. My only advice would be to watch out for cliche. Sometimes they work, and ultimately there are only so many ways to describe heartbreak, but that is the challenge - to find new ways of describing age old emotions.
Cheers,
Craig.
