This book is an aphoristic adventure delving into various polemic topics. It is a unique perspective of our outlooks in life, morality, belief, and the like. While some traditionally written books come to make us reflect on things in life commonly overlooked, the aphorism provides big impact with minimal words. If academic, lengthy books captivate us through sheer volume and systematic order, aphoristic books lend us their artistic and concise insight through the author’s caprice. From the Apex is a perfect example of this non-linear, aphoristic style.

The Devil’s work is cut out for him, with the responsibility of taking in the “deviants” that God creates.

Praise could also be a method of veering the one being praised away from the scheme of the one who praises.

There is no such thing as paradise, only the veneration of its ideal – and the hell unleashed forcing “the way” to that paradise upon the world.

One intimately devalues others amongst their beloved to demonstrate their love.

On the surface, altruism contains no self-centeredness: precisely what should be promoted to the dispossessed!

In front of one’s enemies one is most concerned with seeming flawless and at one’s best.

From “the origin” came all absurdity – or did the absurd create “the origin”?

Pity is occupied by the thought – not of another suffering – that you too could experience the same suffering.

A liar berates his trade when he is lied to.

Belief: an adoption of ignorance because of the infertility of genuine thought.

In music, elegies even breathe life into one’s psyche.

Adopting a belief is like acquiring new shoes: with time, one adapts by getting it somewhat dirty and broken-in until the point one no longer thinks about it, as it protects a vulnerable part of us.

Proponents of “free will” have overlooked their preemptive conviction to the idea and the repudiation of itself by that very fact.

“Blessing” is God’s condescension.

A miracle is an oversight of God’s invariable cruelty.

You implore you are original? So do billions of others.

Ships of conviction, afloat, anchored by belief. They never sail uncharted waters.

The ultimate means to a truth is not skepticism but the craft of diffusing symbolism.

When one is refraining from temptation one is surrendering to some other form of it.

“Bad things happen to good people”: the suggestion of earthly emolument in exchange for “moral goodness”.
