There's a crack in your favourite glass,
it was warm in your hand
and amber, half full,
it's now cold and as spare as your heart.

From where now shall you drink
your daring and wit,
since the spine of your days is too ruined.
I won't cup my hand,
or help you to stand,
you must thirst, and be low before bloomed.

Where your flesh is,
a spirit departed,
away from your water,
which tastes to it bitter,
now it waits, by your side, ‘till your hearted.

Open your mouth and I'll feed you a song,
it is wet with the truth of your saving.
Forget who you are,
love outward and far,
all along it's this drink you've been craving.
