I tried to feel safe and at peace, but no matter what I did, I couldn't.

I tried to reach out

but i couldn't make a purchase,

I tried to swim to saftey

but I couldn't reach the surface,

I tried to call for help

but nobody heard,

I found it kind of funny

how fast someone's back can turn,

I tried to seek shelter

to hide from my worst fears,

but the more I tried to run

the more quickly they neared,

I tried to think of saftey

a place to be at peace,

but the more I thought of a haven

The farther it got out of reach,

I couldn't climb a mountain

I couldn't swim the sea

I couldn't cross the desert

And I could never be truly free.
