Huntagrub McWillow
I'm Huntagrub McWillow,
a topsy-turvy tramp.
I live in Amarillo,
upon the riverbanks.
-
My days are spent canoeing,
and hunting Bumblegrubs.
I coax them out by cooing,
whilst hiding in the shrubs.
-
For cooing is to Bumblegrubs
what barking is to dogs -
what roaring is to lion cubs,
or croaking is to frogs.
-
Bumblegrubs are creatures shy,
that few have ever seen,
with silver wings, like fireflies,
and eyes of emerald green.
-
They live amid the flowerbeds
beside the honey bees,
but sleep beneath allotment sheds,
or up amongst the trees.
-
They look a bit like Sniggles,
and Spotted Octopeds.
When caught, they squawk and wriggle,
then turn a little red.
-
I splat them with my catapult
or catch them in my traps,
then jump around and somersault:
a hobo acrobat.
-
Bumblegrubs taste quite divine:
they melt upon the tongue.
I wash them down with cherry wine,
then sing this silly song:
-
"Bing bong boggle eye, bing bong bo,
I'm a hunting hobo, don't you know!
Bing bong boggle eye, bing bong boo,
yummy jum yum jaroo!"

Wed, September 25th, 2013 5:44pmI like these types of humor. It can be read to kids. And at the same time I can see it as a skit in Saturday Night Live or something. Great work.
