It was originally a song by my "band" but since it has somewhat of a rhyme scheme, I figured it could be posted here. 'Tis about lost love.

I'm holding this old leather back book
And it says 'Photo Album' on the cover
It's filled with pictures, black and white
Of me and my significant other
But they're photos, they're just pictures
They don't mean a thing to me
The only thing that matters is the memory
Remember when you asked me out, and I said 'yes', I could've cried
Remember that night on the town, with neon shining in our eyes
We were perfect, of that we're certain
Still hard to believe it's done
But it is, yeah it is

Flipping through the pages of this leather back book
Just smiling at what we've done
Fighting tears from these pictures, black and white
And feeling my heart go like a drum
But they're photos, they're just pictures
They don't mean a thing to me
The only thing that matters is the memory
Remember those sweet country nights, playing guitar on the deck
Remember our old broke down shed, carving our names in the brick
We were perfect, of that we're certain
Still hard to believe we're done
But we are, yeah we are

Standing by the fire with this leather back book
Watching the pictures go up in flames
Torching these burdens, black and white
Helping me kill some of my pain
But they're photos, they're just pictures
They don't mean a thing to me
The only thing that matters is the memory
Remember when you moved away, and our hearts broke at the same time
Remember when you called me up, and we made each other cry
We were perfect, yeah I'm certain
But I realize that you're gone
Yes I do, of course I do
