When was the last time I saw you until today? 4 years? No 5, it must be five years by now. 5 years since you walked out of my life so abruptly with no words, no hope, no feeling. A little cruel don’t you think? To just leave me in a cold bed like that.

When I saw you today, you looked so thin, I mean you always looked fragile but I feared if a gust of wind blew you, you would fall to the ground and break every bone. You looked skeletal, hollow, dead.

Obviously you have got on with your life and I have got on with mine, I will admit that up until today I hadn’t thought about you in a good couple of years. I remembered how to laugh again, smile, be me, you took me with you when you left, didn’t you know? Oh that's right you were trying to get away from me, but I was hanging onto your coat tails for a long time. Could you not feel me?

Your voice sounded a little strained and huskier than usual, I saw you outside after the gig smoking like a trooper, you were supposed to give that up, silly boy, I mean man. You have aged beyond your 36 years, I smiled when I thought that life had obviously not been kind to you, sorry.

I’m glad your beard and moustache have gone but it does make your cheekbones more prominent. Your hair still hangs lank by your shoulders I noted. You green eyes have now faded from emerald to a dark ink that matches the tattoos that cover your body, with more added over the absent years to your arms.

I saw that you had started wearing silver jewellery again, rings adorned your fingers, necklaces crossed over your chest, and I wondered if you still have that stud that no one else knows about. Well they probably do now, I doubt you haven’t been with another since me you could barely stand to be monogamous.

Is that why you left? If anyone should have walked out of the door than surely it should have been me, with looks and touches I caught out of the corner of my eye that crept closer and closer to infidelity. I never have been a jealous person, is that why you went because you thought I didn’t care? I did you fool.

You have brought up too many unanswerable questions again, thanks for that. Well I bid you this goodbye, a letter to which I do not want a reply. I can respond to those questions myself with one little sentence... I don’t care. I came to see you sing today when I heard you were in town just to see if I did. Turns out I don’t. So goodbye, have a happy life, Take care.
