Only after a year can I see,

All that time I thought it was me,

That I wasn’t good enough,

That I was too rough,

Shame on you,

No longer relying on drink to see me through.

You were my only right,

I thought while we were high as a kite,

That shit blurred my vision,

Couldn’t see I was in prison,

You made me sick,

Relied on you for more than a prick.

Couldn’t see I would always loose the fight,

I may be burnt but I can see the light,

I can lay and remember to breathe,

And realise no, it isn’t me,

The thrill, the chase,

Thank God I didn’t win the race.
