I’m a prisoner of love,

Trapped behind cold bars,

Surrounded by gloomy walls.

A stream of light to breathe,

A hint of wind to blow away,

Those lonely fears and worthless dreams.

Was I a criminal,

To love but not be loved?

A felony,

To hide my affections,

Illegal to declare them.

Scandalous,

Is all it seems.

Foolishness,

Is what it is.

An ultimate culprit,

To infatuation.

A sinful desire,

To adore.

Adulation,

I wish you’d give,

Fanciful fantasies,

Exuding unto me.

Pushing and pulling,

I'll escape from this gaol.

No, I don't want to be,

  A prisoner of love.
