Tire Swing
By: Kristyn D’Angiolillo

The tire swings back and forth
To the sway of the breeze
Waiting for the little girl to come
And hop on its seat with ease

She comes with the winds
She comes with the rains
To sit on the swing
Face full of tearstains

Her place of escape
Lies with the little tire
Hanging from the tree
Swinging higher and higher

When she needs a time of calm
And the feeling of security
She moves back and forth
A being of purity

Until the day arrives
And the girl does not come
Though the tire waits and waits
Its tree she stays away from

Days go by
And still no little girl
The tire wonders
What is about to unfurl

 Then they come with shovels
To dig six feet under the yard
The tire is so sad to see that
Her Daddy hit her too hard
