This poem is one about how we hold on to some of the lies from the ones we love, even though we know we shouldn't.

I try to stand on my own,

But I fall back to the ground.

I try to move forward,

But this agony corrodes my body.

I look into your eyes,

And these lies stare back at me.

They bury themselves inside,

Eroding my heart away;

Planted your seed of destruction,

And walked away.

Watching and waiting on the horizon.

Waiting for the night to fall to collect the pieces.

Deceit, it burns my soul.

It feeds from the flesh you touch.

It eats me away,

A little at a time.

But I'm not strong enough

To break the chains apart--

Too broken for fight.

Held in place, tormented by hope.

I can only wish for a serene ending,

With regret-filled tears in your eyes.
