On the topic of child abuse. I hope somebody somewhere gets something out of this. Statistics show a number of abused children grow up to become abusers themselves. It's a vicious cycle that needs something or someone to help it end.

Have you shed your tear's?

Managed to overcome the fears,

Instilled over those painful, years,

You spent, longing for a release,

From the pain which wouldn't cease,

A tortured soul that knew no peace,

Why wouldn't they see your pain?

The feeling that you'd go insane,

When they would not refrain,

From cursing your name,

As if you were to blame,

For arriving from whence you came,

All you knew was that it wasn't fair,

To live without love or care,

Longing to leave, too young to dare,

Left with memories vivid and real,

Mental and physical assaults you'll always feel,

A wounded past that never heals,

Remember how your little head hung down,

Your tear's falling to the ground,

Striking the floor without a sound,

As you were told not to bawl,

and left feeling, so helpless, and small,

Caged within your parents walls,

Wondering what you had done,

Searching for reasons and finding none,

You were left with nowhere to run,

Until you were finally old enough,

To take some money and pack your stuff,

Being on your own was rough,

But somehow you made a life,

Fell in love and gained a wife,

Started to believe you could forget the strife,

Possibly even be able to enjoy,

The birth of your own little baby boy,

A life you swear you'll not destroy,

If you can get beyond the emptiness,

The lack of your parent's caress,

The endless night's of lonliness,

Can you truly put your past behind,

Overcome your own urge to be unkind,

Sweep the hatred from your mind,

Or does it fester deep inside,

Growing like a sweeping tide,

Becoming something you cannot hide,

All the promises you never kept,

From all the times that you had wept,

Demand payment for this debt,

What made it seem okay,

To slowly sell away,

The precious life you now betray,

Why must your own child feel the fear,

When you were once, so sincere,

Back when you shed your tear's.
