I Truly Care

I cry out for you,

To avoid the bitter pain,

Don't want you feeling blue,

Or standing in the rain,

Need to make you see,

You deserve so much more,

But, I stand by helplessly,

As you open up the door,

On the sadness and misery,

Which you must surely face,

Guess it's just your destiny,

To be in that place,

Pity I couldn't even save,

Someone I truly cared about,

You couldn't help but crave,

The one you really doubt,

I wish I could've been,

The one you wanted most,

But, I'm barely even a friend,

More like a dwindling ghost,

Of your chances for happiness,

With someone who truly cared,

Could've wiped away the bitterness,

If you had only dared,

To reach out for reality,

Instead of already broken dreams,

You don't realize the cruelty,

Of knowing someday you'll scream,

From the hurt He'll inflict,

On your tender caring heart,

Lost in the bitter conflict,

You'll surely be torn apart,

And nothing can I save,

Of who you are now,

Your road you have paved,

And I don't know how,

To protect your lovely soul,

From the pain you will face,

I cannot make you whole,

Your heart I can't replace,

Just wish I would've said,

The magic words to you,

Got them in your head,

before he made you blue,

But, now it's too late,

I've lost you to despair,

Guess It's just my fate,

To have to truly care.
