(This play starts at a casino, with everybody gambling and smoking, accept for one guy -- Joe -- and one girl -- Jodi. They are both staring off into space 'apart from it all'. They both seem to be searching for love. The show zooms into this group of men (4) sitting at a table playing poker, smoking like a chimney)

Man 1: You better deal me a good hand, or God know what I'll do to you!

Man 3: (Dealer) Like I care about your sympathy, Brock!

Man 2: You'd better watch your mouth, Brett, or you'll get what's coming to you.

Man 3: (Aggitated) I don't care.

Man 2: Well, I want you to live...

Man 3: (Mad) I don't care!

Man 2; It's for your own good...

Man 3: (Screaming) I said I don't care, so could you just shut up already?

Man 2: Sorry for disturbing you. I can see the game is over for me, so I will be leaving now. (Gets up to go)

Man 3: Thank God!

(Men 1, 3 and 4 all laugh, and Man 2 sits back down)

Man 2: On that case, I'll stay.

Man 3: (reflecting his past line) Oh, God!
Man 2: Would you just deal out the cards, already?

Man 3: Cut to the chase, eh?
Man 2: That's right!
Man 3: You want me to cut to the chase!? How about me cutting your neck open!

(Joe is standing there watching the quarrel that has broken out amongst the men at the table and speaks poetically -- almost narrarating, in his head)

Joe: Those violent delights have violent ends which, in their tryumph die like fire and powder. I only wish the could accept me and make me their friend. As long as I am living, I will be the most hated around here, and I don't know anymore why I even come here anyways. My whole life was a living reign of terror, so why continue now when it's so easy to brake off on my own and call it quits...

(Jodi is standing there watching the quarrel and speaks to herself narrarating)

Jodi: I have looked upon those men with such passion, such love, and that is how they have treated me. Just like that lousy piece of unflushed leftovers. Left me feeling ready to slit my wrists open. All I ever longed for was a little compassion, is that too much to ask for? Just somebody to love me and kiss me goodnight when I go to bed? (Starts weeping) I wish, just for one day, that I could meet the perfect man, the one to tuck me in with a kiss at the end of the night.

(Jodi and Joe exchange glances)
Jodi: I think I've just met him.
