I am obliged
To say what is true
Of all the weight
That bears down on you

I might have been selfish
In deciding too soon
My mind and my heart
Was perfectly attune

It happens
One might say
To the best of us
Once astray

I was wrong to be right
Such guilt I feel
From my own deeds
Because of my excessive zeal

Do I deserve compassion?
I’ve shown my affection
Help me see
My imperfection
