If I could put you through the pain
you've well prepared for me
you'd see what seems but little rain
as hard and churning sea:
you'd feels what seems but summer's heat
as fire's bloodied touch:
this parting that you thought so sweet
you'd see is lacking much.

If you think you've been kind, my dear,
I'll teach you soon to know
the rain that lingers for a year
is just as cruel as snow
and when you think your heart will break
you'll beg me for release
as I've begged you this life to take--
and then I will have peace.
