Impending Depletion

Scowling pillows, sheets and comforters

becon a lathargic spirit.

Their road maps of mocking flowers and vines

entice but laugh knowingly.

Freedom is enslaved

with guilty wounds.

Wounds seeping sorrow.

Wounds oozing worry.

Scowling dark hours, minutes and seconds

tease and taunt a lethargic spirit.

Their mnemonic ticks and tocks

shorten and snicker knowingly.

Paintings are without canvases.

Canvases whispering love.

Canvases wailing suspect.

Scowling rigid and tall walls

shelter and shutter a lethargic spirit.

Their solid, unflappable structures

secure but scoff knowingly.
